How it all started...

Strange things can happen in the forest...

30 Pack and Rub-A-Dub formed their shared love affair for all things wild and wonderful on their thru-hike of the Pacific Crest Trail in 2013. Radical attitudes and a constant duel to see who could make the other laugh more resulted in a modified walking form of trail-maintenence. Calls of "SUUUUU" and "HYUHHHHHH" could be heard along the trail, as unknowing low-hanging branches and over-grown shrubbery would be pushed aside for future hikers with a swift, decisive Ninja slice. With each chop and each resonating laugh, the love for the trail deepened, and Backcountry Ninjas was born.

30 Pack gathered his resources and fellow thru-hiker Ninjas, and started churning out rad t-shirts, hats, and other fun stuff for the hiking community to enjoy. He's spread the word about Backcountry Ninjas, from DC to Campo, and everywhere in between! He managed to pick up Rub-a-Dub along the way, and the two have been collaborating to keep the trail communities looking funky and laughing happily every day of the year! These guys are committed to putting a smile on everyone's face... in and out of the woods!

The Backcountry Ninjas are also committed to giving back to trail communities that have helped make them who they are, and every purchase gives 7% of profits to the Pacific Crest Trail, Continental Divide Trail, and Appalachian Trail. In a growing effort to help kids share the enthusiasm about the wilderness, a portion of those proceeds are also donated to "For the Love of Children." More information about our community work can be found here!

30 Pack is the nicest person on the entire blue planet! He's given out thousands of free hugs along his 2012 Appalachian Trail thru-hike, and possibly millions of high-fives on his 2013 Pacific Crest Trail thru-hike. He currently operates the mobile-Ninja Subaru unit in the beautiful southwest corners of Utah, and is currently training a small army of future Ninjas as a Wilderness Therapy Instructor. 30 Pack also successfully donated over 10,000 dollars to his hometown charity, "For The Love of Children" on his Pacific Crest Trail thru-hike, and he continues to spread the love through hugs, high-fives, and rad t-shirts. He's also one CDT away from the fabled triple-crown, and he plans on toppling the 3,000 mile monster of the rocky mountains in 2016. If you see this wiley, smiling fella on a trail near you, don't be afraid to get aerial and slap him some skin!

Our Artists!

Doodles is an artist and adventurer currently living in Fort Collins, Colorado. Since discovering backpacking and rock climbing back in the Pacific Northwest, she's been playing outside at every possible opportunity. In 2013 she spent all summer on the PCT, where she kept her trail journal in the form of daily drawings later compiled into the book "Doodles Does the PCT." She now spends most of her time leading backpacking trips in the mountains of Colorado, drawing pictures to be printed on epic T-shirts and hats, making sweet potato fries, and climbing on rocks wherever she can find them.
